Word Filled Wednesday

1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions;if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
John 14:1-3

My dear Cousin Robin lost her battle to Cystic Fibrosis this morning. She has been a true beacon in my life these past few years. Her older brother sent out an email this morning and had this scripture in it. It hit me & is what is giving me comfort, knowing, I will be seeing her one day soon!

Word Filled Wednesday

A day late, but that's ok! God has once again been working on my worth. This scripture REALLY spoke to me when I found it on "all you have to give" I knew I had to use it!
I guess he is really stretching me lately. It's been hard, but I know worth it when I'm through.

Word Filled Wednesday

I have really been dealing with my giving lately. I have, honestly, always been one to give the shirt off of my back. But I have a TON of brand new baby stuff from Delayna that I thought I could make some money off of to be able to purchase some things for her or even Christmas. But, God is telling me, "Melissa, give it to 'so & so'.
Then I fight with him. Why, I don't know.
But I feel as though this scripture has really opened my heart & eyes to what God wants me to do.

Word Filled Wednesday

I haven't done WFW for a while now. I feel as though it's a day I can really take some time and reflect on what God has done, is doing and will do for me in my life.
I came across this verse on a blog that I follow & it really impacted me. So I'm using today. Enjoy!

WORSHIP~the purpose of which is to give honor or worth to God

Once again, I have been hit HARD by one of my emails. Here it is...

Faith Book

8 Jul 2009

Susanne Scheppmann

"They stood where they were and read from the Book of the Law of the Lord their God for a quarter of the day, and spent another quarter in confession and in worshiping the Lord their God." Nehemiah 9:3 (NIV)

A new addiction slipped into my life recently - Facebook. Internet social networking slid in quietly and unobtrusively. Each day I found myself reading and posting a bit more. I learned how to create my visual bookshelf, so my "friends" could check out what I was reading. I linked my blog. My time seeped into Facebook like grains of sand slide through the hourglass.

My addiction soon took a turn for the worst. I began to put off my personal quiet time with God until after I had Facebooked. Sadly, scripture seemed boring next to my friends' postings. Strangely, the mundane posts intrigued me. I had fallen under the spell of social networking.

Then one day, I dragged myself away from my laptop. I had Bible study that night and needed to finish my lesson. The lesson pointed us to the book of Nehemiah. I read, "They stood where they were and read from the Book of the Law of the Lord their God for a quarter of the day, and spent another quarter in confession and in worshiping the Lord their God." (Nehemiah 9:3, NIV).

Yikes! They read God's Word for a quarter of the day, then spent another quarter of the day in confession and worshiping? These words haunted me the rest of the afternoon. When was the last time I spent that much time with God? How much time did I spend on the Internet? I felt a deep conviction about my Facebook addiction.

I determined that day to read my Bible, my FaithBook, before I turned on my computer each day. I would network with God, before networking with my friends. When I made this decision, I saw scripture jump back to life. God's Word spoke to me with a freshness that seemed as if He had just posted it Himself.

The addiction stopped. Oh, I still enjoy Facebook and other social networks, but I have learned to keep them in proper perspective. Psalm 119:59-60 sums up my new intent: "I pondered the direction of my life, and I turned to follow your laws. I will hurry, without delay, to obey your commands" (NLT).

Will you join me in the commitment to spending time in God's Word before time spent on Facebook?

Dear Lord, I recognize that I spend too much time on the computer. Forgive my inattention to Your Word. Help me each day to place You first in my life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Application Steps:
Today, take notice of how much time you spend on the computer for personal enjoyment. Decide to make your quiet time with God a priority. Read Psalm 119 and then ponder the benefits of time spent in God's Word.

Reflections:
Do I put off my quiet time with God in lieu of "social networking?"

Am I willing to commit more time to reading the Bible?

How can I begin to keep my life in a healthy balance?

Power Verses:
Exodus 24:7, "Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, 'We will do everything the Lord has said; we will obey.'" (NIV)

Romans 10:17, "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ." (NIV)

Joshua 1:8, "Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." (NIV)

Word Filled Wednesday

On my way from dropping Adriana & Gwen off at school this morning, I was thinking...
"It's Wednesday, what do I have to do?"
Honestly, the first thing that came to mind was Word Filled Wednesday. I didn't know why, but I decided to come home & clean up the kitchen. Then get onto the computer to look up my blogger friend's WFW.
Well, when I got to eLisa's page aka Extravagant Grace, I found this:

Extravagant Grace

Have you ever been in a season of indescribable busyness, pulled in a thousand good directions? Have you ever felt distant from God, even though you are going through the motions of the relationship with Him and continue to be in service to Him?

That's where I am right now. This verse reminds me that the one thing I must do is Be Still -- somehow, someway to be still both in my soul and in my actions -- so that I may know Him. From that place, I will be able to hear His voice and heed His call.

I pray for a stillness of the Lord for all of us today. May we soak in His Word and allow it to still us from the inside out!
I know I've said it before, but God knows exactly what we need when we need it! I couldn't have written out my feelings any better.
May your day be blessed!

Word Filled Wednesday

Too many clouds by moemoechi.

Cast all your anxiety on Him
God cares so much about you today. Not only does He love and care about you,
He cares about the things that concern you as well.

If you have concerns, worry or anxiety about something in your life today; finances, relationships, your job or anything else, know that your Heavenly Father already has a plan to take care of those things for you.

It's a good plan, and He wants to show Himself strong on
your behalf. The scripture reminds us that the lilies of the field and
the birds of the air are cared for, how much more will your Heavenly
Father take care of you?

Make the decision today to cast all of your anxiety on Him by choosing to trust that He is going to take care of you. Refuse to dwell on your problems and don't allow
them to steal your peace and joy any longer. Instead, choose to meditate on His Word and confess God's promises over your life. As you cast your cares on Him, you'll experience His peace and joy, and you will live the life of blessing He has in store for you.

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, thank You for caring for me. I choose today to cast my cares on You and trust that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf. I bless and magnify You today. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Word Filled Wednesday

Phillipians 3:12-14
12Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

The Lord gave this scripture to me when I rededicated myself to Him March 20, 2005.
It has become my motto of sorts.
I'm not perfect in any manner, but through Christ Jesus, I am fighting daily to be more like him.
I pray that you can take this scripture to heart & live daily for Him, striving for the goal he has for you!

Word Filled Wednesday

Dear Lord, thank You for always being there for me, and for promising to make me new, even when I sometimes feel so broken. I pray that You would help me see the ways you are working in my life, fulfilling Your promises to me as I put my hope in You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

I know I'm a day late on this post, but I've been dealing with a lot around here. Dominic has been fighting fevers & has an unknown virus in his little body. Delayna has had thrush & I've been fighting my own issues with that. I am mentally & physically exhausted.
But I praise God that even though I am drained, I can still go to him to find the Grace I need at this moment.

Word Filled Wednesday

I found an awesome link this week that I didn't see last. It's a link to a lady that partners with 160 acre woods for WFW. It's called Extravagant Grace, and talks about why she started WFW, go check it out!

Here is my Scripture for the day:

This comes from this past week of dealing with my poor sick baby. You can read about the hospital visit here.

As I stood in the hospital for 6 hours, I had lots of quiet time to think & dwell.
My poor husband was just beat! He had been up for almost 24hours straight, worked a hard day & was here sitting in the hospital with his boy.
I did alot of rocking, swaying, holding either Dominic or Delayna. When one got tired of their Papa, we would switch off. I stood alot with Delayna, rocking her & keeping her quiet.
At one point, I looked at my phone & saw that it was after 2am. I was just talking to God & thanking Him for ALL of my many blessings. As I was talking to him, watching my poor husband nod his head off while holding Dominic, I realized my strength. I just began to thank God for the strength HE has given me!
I love Isaiah 40:31, because with all of the things I have gone through in my life, I have prayed that the Lord would mount me up like an eagle. That as my physical body would grow weary, that he would strengthen me & raise me up higher so I could accomplish whatever it is that I need to do.
I Praise you Father for YOUR strength & pray that you continue to carry & strengthen me.
