Yay for LA!

We have been through the ringer since the beggining of december and we just had the icing put on the cake. ‹ will be in another blog post.
Anyhow, Jose and I decided it was time to take a trip with our babies and just get away from "reality" for a day. So we are heading LA!
We do this every so often, we'll pack up and head to the Guatemalan bakery, eat us some authentic Guatemalan food, buy us some pan, and take something new home that I can learn to cook for my babies. I love that we have something close enough to home that we can instill their Guatemalan traditions, heritage, whatever. It's important to me that my babies know where theycome from and some traditions.
So here we go...
I posted some pics of us driving. I will be taking pics while out there and share them with you.
Have a great day & know, God has it all under control!

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

Jose's brother, Mario has been fighting a 6 year battle of cancer. Jose's family called him on Wednesday morning to inform him that he is in the hospital with days left to live. My poor husband is simply devastated. I asked him to share his feelings with me last night and all he could say is, "I can't imagine never being able to see my brother again."
Even though we are over 2,200 miles apart, Mario was the only one out of the family that cared or desired a relationship to continue to grow with Jose. He is also the only one that ever liked me, or cared to have a relationship with me. Mario was truly a sweetheart, caring, loving and just a great person all around.
Jose is frantically trying to get his passport updated and plane tickets to get over there before Mario passes.
I am just praying that the Lord gives Jose peace, strength & an outpouring of love at this time.

Dia De Los Reyes

January 6th is Dia De Los Reyes aka Three Kings Day.
This isn't something that we normally celebrate, but it's something that Jose, when he was in his country did celebrate.
Having a mixed family, it has been hard to keep tradition with both my family as well as Jose's traditions.
When I married him (or even before) I swore I would try to incorporate his family traditions into our family.
Well, this is a holiday, that as Christians, we don't traditionally celebrate. It's more of a Catholic traditional celebration.
BUT, since Jose has Catholic roots and his family does celebrate this (they even have the HUGE parade and parties), we will be incorporating it into our day...
Just because I like to get the pan, Rosca de Reyes (translated, the bread) :-)

Feliz Dia De Los Reyes y que Dios Te Vendiga!
